Presently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Malak Christian
Productions and Chief Operations Officer of
CPA Records, Kenn began his musical career at
the age of twelve (12) as a saxophonist for
local groups. Kenn also played guitar, which
became his primary instrument for a number of
years before he became interested in learning
the piano. Although Kenn enjoys playing
keyboards and piano, guitar remains his
primary instrument.
Kenn had the opportunity to become the
opening act for several groups. After touring
with groups like the Third Edition, Red Ball
Express, and Universal Flight, Kenn began
losing interest in secular music. Kenn changed
his career path for a number of years before
realizing his true calling, Gospel Music.
Since then Kenn has performed with Walter,
Edwin, and Tremaine Hawkins, the Tampa, FL
based group “Anointed” and Tampa’s own
“Chosen” who later became “Malak.”
After Malak recorded their first gospel
album which featured Kenn as an
instrumentalist, Kenn decided the album should
be released without waiting for a major label
contract. Kenn started his own Christian
record label, Malak Christian Productions. The
album, I Am... Because Jesus...” was
released and record sales were good. Kenn went
on to become a producer and engineer for
several other projects to include Fred
Vega’s “2177788”, Charlotte Powell’s
“Trust In The Lord” and Charlie
McNabb’s instrumental album to name a few.
In January 2000, Kenn met with Al
McDaniel, President and CEO of CPA Records. Al
had just released his first gospel recording,
“A Message To Deliver”. After several
meetings, Al decided that Kenn should become
part of his company, CPA Records. Kenn also
became Al’s personal manager for the gospel
album release. Since the two joined hands in
their efforts, the company now receives
national attention with national promotions, national and international record
distribution.
There have been discussions about the
two companies merging to become one gospel
music powerhouse. So stay tuned for more.
